FAA Documents & Flight Department Manuals Preparation

In aviation, it is all starts with the mission profile that the aircraft is required to fulfill.  Selecting the proper aircraft and outfitting it to meet that mission profile are just the initial phases of flight department development.  Equally important is the development of the documents required to conduct the mission profile's operations.  AMCS has extensive experience in producing and acquiring FAA approval for all the documents a well run flight department needs.

While private flight departments (operating under CFR14 part 91 regulations) are not scrutinized to the same extend as their for-hire counterparts, the need for company procedures and FAA authorizations to conduct operations is no less important.  Documented standard operating procedures (SOPs) are essential for safety, and in many instances are required to fly in the airspace of most sovereign nations.  AMCS can assist in the development of International Procedures Manuals, General Operations Manuals and Maintenance Department Manuals, which will meet the FAA requirements needed to acquire Operations Specifications (also called Letters of Authorization) for flight into oceanic airspace and the airspace of foreign nations.  With the advent of Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) the application for Operations Specification A056 has become increasingly more dynamic and difficult.  Having well written SOPs which match the way you want operations to be conducted protects your flight department from unsafe practices and liabilities.  AMCS will work with an aircraft owner and/or the flight department manager to develop these SOPs and prepare the manuals needed to document them.  We will then walk the manuals through every phase of their regulatory authority approval if required.  Having the assistance of an organization like AMCS that completes these tasks on a regular basis makes the process more expedient and less prone to errors.

Developing the GOM, training manuals, GMM, CAMP and supplemental procedures manuals for an air taxi operation which meet all the requirements of the FAA in a manner that reflects the way flight operations are actually conducted is a task which very few pilots or mechanics are prepared to tackle.  Manual preparation can often be accomplished faster and with less need for future revisions with the assistance of individuals who have accomplished the task multiple times.  The staff at AMCS has years of experience working with flight departments to develop and refine their manuals.  We can guide aviation professions around the common pitfalls found during the development flight department manuals.  AMCS will work with a company’s Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, Director of Maintenance and Chief Inspector to make sure the final draft of the manuals matches the way they conduct business and meets all the regulatory requirements of the FAA.  The results of this process creates documents which are completed and then accepted by the FAA in a more expedient manner.

Please consider contacting AMCS to assist you in developing or improving your flight department manuals.  The time and frustration saved will make the call well worth it.
